If a NPC is unable to deal damage to you(because you cut off both its arms for example, as the topic states), you won't earn xp from it.

So aim upper or lower during levelling. Aim mid won't really help you to get xp.

What about casting NPCs, they can still hurt you without those bothersome arms.

The code is set so that if your victim's arms are both severed, your exp is halted. Although some NPCs do cast damage spells, this doesn't circumvent the code.

You can, however, gain some minimal exp if you cast spells while in combat after the arms are gone. You will gain casting exp, just no damage-related exp.

As far as gaining exp from the receipt of damage, this is an innacurate reading of the previous posts. You gain exp from doing damage to a NPC that has the theoretical ability to do standard melee damage to you.

Once, Dracon an adept withered all the goblins in Teron for my lvl 1 griffon, Abdar. No XP what so ever. None. Killed all of them at level 1 not a tick.
