It is usually preferred to learn about this sort of information ICly. You could do this by using the "who" command to try to find someone who sounds evil, and send them a polite tell explaining that you are a young necromancer who can't find his way around. A lot of players will drop what they're doing to help out a newbie, and you'll have made a friend, sparked rp, etc. Learning where trainers are through an OOC medium like this forum and then transfering that information to your character is technically illegal.

*sigh*

Yes, I understand. But who do I ask? If 19 people are online and a third have no title, a third nondescript (as far as alignment or profession go), and the remaining third are clearly not evil, who would I tell? I don't like bothering people to begin with, and as has been mentioned, many people would stand against my character.

I won't continue asking here, but I had been looking for where to go for quite some time.

Edit: Made math realistic.

This is my general rule for asking information from people in an IC manner. If I am evil I am looking for people with things like shadow, warlord, void, knightlord, and things dealing with the evil gods (see help gods for a list).

That helps you with evil type people, but what about the non-descript and no titles, right? Well in that case still ask if no one else is around but you can ask in a less direct manner than saying I am a young necromancer seeking aid. Instead something along the lines of "I've heard there are some schools for necomancy in the North have you heard of them as well?" If they ask why, come up with some vague sort of response like you are continuing your training and heard from others that it was a place to go. If they persist in asking you why you need a school for necromancy then you probably will not end up getting the information and should ask someone else. If who you ask doesn't know, ask for a suggestion of someone who might.

Also, as you can see from the help files, a number of the spells you get cross with the spells of mages and hellions, so instead of asking for tutors for necomancers, you can ask for a mage trainer or a hellion trainer.

As far as asking for info here on the forums don't be afraid to do so, just consider the request. For example, while I realize you had some difficulties picking someone to ask IC about the location of the necromancy school, it is something better attained asking IC.

But asking how to release your spell; for example, while you can ask IC, isn't the kind of thing that is frowned upon being asked here. Also tips on what stats are more important than others for your class is also generally acceptable and I believe there are a few threads already regarding necromancers if you take a peek around the newbie forum.

Kinds of things that you probably shouldn't ask here are how to get places, where good loot is, how and where to level and how to find and complete quests. These are all things easily and better found out IC. It sparks RP for you and others and you can often find someone who will actually show you these things instead of telling you in an OOC format.

Hope that helps. Most of us here are very happy and willing to help new players both OOC and IC. Welcome to SK!

Well, there's also the "mentor" command.

If you sit in your inn and type "mentor", the innkeeper NPC will automatically send a tell to anybody that lives in the same country, prioritizing people of the same or similar class.

If the title is dark and grey, probably evil are they.

Then again asking paladins for help is even funnier.
