I'm curious as to why there is such a short limit on signatures. I found a nice quote.

Quote:
"It is better to keep your mouth closed and let people think you are a fool than to open it and remove all doubt." --Mark Twain

Is too long to be a sig on these forums. Even without the citation and the quote marks, it's too long.

ITs part of BIG D's new anti-gimp code changes... :P

I couldn't tweak the quote to make it fit either. :-?

A while back some gluttons thought it'd be fun to smatter signature images, all large and animated over the bottom of all their posts. This, combined with long paragraphs that started to be a 'post' all on their own, now mean there is enough room to put your name, and little else. How big does a signature have to be, really? It's there to save you typing your name at the end of each post.

If you want to be a unique snowflake, put any quips and famous quotes in your PROFILE page using the link at the top of every forum page - people will then see how witty you are after reading your profile and won't have to trawl through 10 more paragraphs of text when reading topics. ;)

- A.

PS: The skAdvanced theme skips signatures altogether, so don't get too attached to them.

We need 256 character sigs.

I would even be happy with the more standard 125 character sigs.

Why would we have to even worry about typing our name on each post

It's right over there to the readers left of each post
