When you're mounted on a centaur or griffon PC, you can both move, so it's usually best to put one person in charge of movement.

If someone is trying to mount a centaur must the centaur follow that person? Can he not be the one who chooses were to go? How does that work? |

Try following them, letting them mount you, then walking in a direction on your own. Since they are mounted, they will go with you. |
