Is there a game mechanic reason not to wear armor/clothing that's a size too small on a character that isn't planning on being in melee combat at all? Other than looking sort of like a bodybuilder or stripper, I can't seem to think of one. |

Not to my knowledge it can also make you a much more efficent hoarder. |

If you don't *plan* (key word!) on being in melee combat, I don't think it matters at all. Here's hoping that works out for you! |

I'm thinking that the silks, cloths and whatnot that my current is wearing won't help that much even if they are the right size |

The biggest (pun!) reason I could advise against wearing things tight is that there are times where your size will get screwed up, and going from tight to unwearable in the wrong situation can be a real pain. I heard a rumor that poorly sized items are less effective: armors offer less AC, weapons attack less reliably, etc. I don't know if that is true, but it makes sense. |

I tend to measure how much damage a given NPC does to me, and I vividly recall a NPC that would always take me down from 100% to about 50-40% every time I fought him. I discovered that my armor was the wrong size, resized it, and that NPC began to always take me down from 100% to 70-60%.

It's standard practice for casters to keep their clothing one size small so that they can be better at hoarding. If you don't plan on getting hit, go for it. |

What if you do plan on being hit? Like if you are a melee class like a barbarian or a fighter or a swashbuckler? |

Then you probably want the full protection that your mithril thong has to offer. |

Do not ever wear armor that is not sized properly if you are a melee class. |
