Okay from my understanding of the RP, since Yed is rather indescriminant and neutral he probably doesn't care if you are a follower or not, any warlock with reverence to his own power probably would be a follower none-the-less.

My questions
1) I read something on these forums that seemed to imply I can follow multiple dieties. Is this true?
2) Would going to Alshain's temple be a good place to start asking/learning how Alshain feels about Yed.
3) Is it safe to assume that anything in the help files (that is strictly IC based) is common knowledge, things I might learn in a proper 'grade-school' type environment and can safely RP knowledge of?
4) Did anything become ofthis post?

1) You can only officially belong to a single religion. That doesn't mean you can only pray to or respect one god, though. Many characters don't belong to any religion, but they're not atheists. They're refered to as pantheists and many pay respect to all the gods.

2) Probably not, unless Alshain's temple has books on the religion there. You should ask people ICly, I guess, which isn't always easy with the pbase as low as it has been.

3) Yes.

4) Warlocks have received buffs in recent updates. They can now have a storebought pet and an elemental at the same time, and stone skin is not entirely bypassed by split-damage weapons.

imo, warlocks still aren't a very strong class, but like everything, it's situational, and there are definitely situations in which the warlock owns.

You should just go ahead and officially join the Yed religion and "revere" the other god. :P

<---plays the Yed high priest

I'm just kidding, but actually, from my character's perspective, all warlocks are followers of Yed. If Menkh met a warlock who didn't revere Yed, she would be furious.

Your character might be furious, but how would Yed feel about it? Do Warlocks get their power by choice, or are warlocks born warlocks, a side effect of Yed's neutrality, not caring about the affairs of mortals and if they have power or not.

Well, there's no active Yed IMM, so as the high priest I can easily say in-character that Yed thinks they are the worst sort of parasites. Of course It thinks everyone is a parasite and if you read the Yed helpfile It is totally ambivalent toward all people, even Its own followers, so technically I, and the other church leaders, can say that yes, warlocks get their power from Yed personally and have a duty to revere him at the very least, if not join the church officially.

Besides, BECAUSE of Yed's ambivalence, it's really up to Its followers to be pissed off about warlocks who don't revere Yed. I think most other church members would agree. Unless Yed busts downs from the heavens and says otherwise - which It won't, since It doesn't care - the church leaders really get to say as they wish.

I mean, that's at least the way I've RPed it. Another church leader might RP something totally different.

I like everything you just said as far the churches stance, but I feel like the definition of wether a warlock get his power by choice is a game mechanic. One that in general agrees with you as a finally found a reference by reading the 'warlock' help file a little closer.

Warlock Help File wrote:
A warlock receives his powers
from Yed, the great lord of the elemental planes and all warlocks must
pledge their powers to his service.

In general Warlocks shouldn't disobey the HP of Yed, and as the HP feels that Warlocks should be Yeddite in Religion strictly, than that is what I'm going to RP as the religio-political understanding of my character.

Wait! Before you do anything rash, I have no problem if warlocks join other religions, as long as they respect Yed. You don't have to join the Yed church if you don't want to! I don't want to ruin your experience if you really wanted to join the Alshain religion.

I just think all warlocks should respect/revere Yed, and I'm sure other Miran priests feel like sorcerers should respect/revere Mira, even if they don't belong in the church.

I will make a point to talk to you about this ICly if you want!

I'm in Taslamar right now. As for joining other religions, my motivations are political, and I think a IC discussion would benefit both of us.

Nope.

There only only three situations in which a priest's feelings actually matter: brewing, enchanting, and resurrection. Short of that, most of the time, they can be ignored or told to take off if you don't like what they're preaching. You know, like in real life, Gods are disposable. Just ask Calrion's dismembered face.
