NPCs that stun in the newbie areas should probably be considered a bug. If they are continuously keeping you stunned, it's definitely a bug.

In the Grotto I only got -10hp once, when very very small, because I didn't attack that one again until I grew a lot.

The one in the forest is not a newbie area, but it has already happened to me twice because when I go from Taslamar to Ayamao, I don't see how the road continues and I always end up entering this forest where an arrow hits me (and many others follow). I am walking, so I don't have a lot of Movement Points, and this attack takes me to 0 Movement, so it is impossible to walk, which I imagine could be the way to run away from him. He is probably a small one and that is why I am getting -10hp and not dying.

If it happens again I will copy it for you to have a look.

Sounds like you are playing a deep-elf and trying to run through the Selkwood. Read help enmity for a bit of explanation there. Deep-elves don't belong in the Selkwood and if you try to run through there without being hidden somehow you'll continue to be attacked, at higher levels this is just annoying but at lower levels those NPCs could definitely give you a really bad time. I think the elven archers that are hidden in the forest only stun, which explains why they keep you KO'd instead of killing you.

I'd recommend reading enmity. For your deep-elf especially as a newbie the kingdoms you can travel more easily in are the Northern Wastes, Uxmal, and the Empire.

That's correct. The Mage is a deep elf...I had not realized that's the reason they attacked. Anyhow, I don't choose my destination (well, I want to go somewhere but end somewhere else). I want to go to Sith'... and never find the road.

There's not actually a road into Sith'a'niel. It's in the middle of the Selkwood forest.

shatteredkingdoms.org/worldmap is a good place to look for major landmarks like Sith'a'niel.

....And you're in for a surprise if your deep-elf makes it all the way there.

Deep-elves aren't just another flavor of elf, they're diametrically opposed in every way. Read help enmity!
