Nonsense. Clearly they are visible runes which the uninitiated simply can't decipher, and because these runes are of such a personal nature to the maker, a spell is required to discern what type of enchantment is for.

When I enchant, I RP writing the magic down in light blue comic sans, so there are no runes.
