How can you tell if you have one or not? I am using an epee which I thought would be a slashing weapon.

When you hit stuff, it will say "You slash at XYZ".

Is it linked to weapon type? or Material type?

Builder whims, really. Each subtype has a default, but we can very easily change it if we like. Sorry it's not easier to tell. Maybe something to consider adding to the shop list.

Perhaps, and I'm really expanding on an idea here...

Shopkeeper command in addition to value (which is handy when working out best selling prices)

Syntax: detail <item>
a) <item> is a <slashing/bashing/piercing/flaming/etc> <weapon subtype> <weapon type>
b) <item> is a piece of <cloth/light/heavy> armor, which can be worn on the <body part> (or <body part>)

I think this would be a more interesting use of code. The shop list is already sometimes spammy, and weapons aren't the only unclear things at times for sale, especially in kingdoms using names for things that are not the most common.

Perhaps it might be easier to provide a default list of weapons that you can blitzkrieg with?

And a list you can backstab with?
And a list you can reach with?

Both of those already exist.

I don't know why you're worried about using blitz. It's a terrible skill.
