You have to take it to the local blacksmith. Prices vary by material/area/tax rate. Also you can ask a sorcerer pc. They have shrink and enlarge spells. Try sending some tells out if you want exact directions.

I had this exact problem when I first started the game. When I lost my practice sword I thought it was basically game over for me.

Then I discovered the blacksmith.

Almost every city has a blacksmith, so no matter where you found your weapon you'll be able to get it taken care of as long as the material is something that is able to be forged. Ask around and someone will be able to tell you where to go.

This can also get expensive, so it's good to make friends with a sorcerer or someone else who can use scrolls/wands (priest, warlock, necromancer).

Some cities have shops which sell giant weapons, too. Ask around in game.

Dont get discouraged. Many players will purchase and resize a weapon for you, if you ask.

What is the syntax for weapon/armor sizing? I understand repair, and have used it successfully. Is it "Size <armor or weapon>?" Am I around the wrong person when I try it?

I am probably overlooking something simple. Thanks for the Newbie thread! =]

Resize <item> <size> is the syntax.
