Is there a way to test the strength of a spell from a potion or item for those of us who can not Identify or for those using scripted items?

Scripted items tend to be level 50.

Other than that, you'd need someone to identify or lore the item you want to know about. That's why those abilities are there.

Once upon a time, scripted items tended to be level 50. But that hasn't been the case for a year or two, at least, ever since I started enforcing the item level as maximum allowed in a script.

Was that announced on the forums?

So is there any way of telling the difference between a level 50 script and a level 25 script for example? Mirror image and giant strength are easy enough from the strength of the spell but things like sanctuary protection armor etc?

Code changes for administrative tools are never announced (nor will they be).

No, you can only go by perceived effect. But as I said, the script effect will now almost never be higher level than the item itself (although there is nothing prohibiting it from being lower).

Durations seems like a decent gauge for the level of the spell you are testing. Now I don't have a reference nor do I actually sit there and time spells, but if you need to differentiate between level 25 and 50, the level 50 one should last longer if it causes any affect.
