Code:
You yell 'Guards! A resplendent male griffon is trying to murder me!'
You counter a resplendent male griffon's attack!
A resplendent male griffon is unaffected by your counterstrike!

Magical resistance is such a terrible idea.

Reading your recent posts makes me upset I did not stick with the MRbarb I had planned on using when I came back

What kind of weapon were you using? There could be other factors involved, as well.

I was using a weapon that does slashing damage because magic weapons are useless anymore.

Since you already verified you were not wielding a magic damage weapon, I am fairly certain I know what is causing this bug. When I played Maelgrim, a certain Hammer spell did not protect and/or work against counterstrike when using backstab.

When Dulrik fixed the Hammer spell to work against counterstrike, I guess (pure speculation) that he changed counterstrike into a spell and/or magic. The unintended consequence being that it made MR barbarians immune to counterstrike.

You realize that when you counterstrike, you are using the attackers own move (including their own weapon) against them, right? It's a redirection of their attack into their own body. I am guessing that the griffon attacking you was using a certain well known magical weapon.

This is what happened, I went and tested with a steel weapon and definitely took counterstrike damage.

Wheeeeeether or not MR barbs resisting magic damage from weapons is fair and balanced isn't really a bug discussion, although it's a fair game balance discussion :P.

This means it is tactically beneficial for an MR barbarian to wield as magical a weapon as possible. That does not make much sense from a RP standpoint, and RP is what lead to things like the resist elements nerf, so.

RP wasn't the only reason behind the resist elements nerf. By making it unbrewable, it made warlocks more powerful.
