While the above option is totally the coolest, it would probably be mega boring to wait for. Best bet is getting an IMM to reset you, or finding a GM friend who never did the quest, (which is unlikely) |

I did a simular thing (I gave it to the quest person too early and it didn't count) I sent up a prayer, asking for devine help ICly, and explaining OOCly, an Imm that was on was quick to help, sticking a brand new one right in my inventory. |

sometimes even after you start the quest it will not even let you skin it, unless that has been fixed, i have had to kill her a few times in the past. |
