Just a heads up. With my return and all the helpful IMMs in the staff, I'd like to return to doing fights at the Coliseum for general entertainment. I may randomly hold a tournament or announce it in this thread if I know I will have time to devote to a session of gladiator combat. This post is also to let you know that its likely I will hold at least one of these competitions this week. Tonight works best for me. Sorry for the short notice, but hopefully some folks are able to take part. I'm thinking somewhere between 6 PM and 7 PM server time. Other staffers have been given the rundown and have been welcomed to hold events here on their own accord. I hope its fun for those competing and attending. I'm sure its a chance to win rewards for stellar role play, see some IMM run interaction, and watch some fights. Enjoy. PS. I'll use this thread to try to give some warning for when I intend to be there. That doesn't mean I might not do them out of the blue, but I have observed people enjoying these things and will do my best to make them as fun as possible. PPS. If I were to find a player or two which wants to help or otherwise get involved, I'd love to have some volunteers to assist. |

It was great fun, but hopefully next time we can speed it along some. Also, it is quite a bit of spam. Maybe we can have only the start of each round of combat indicate that we are hearing combat from the pit, rather than each line indicate that? Also, it would be cool if we got a line of text indicating each combatants overall damage. Overall Dude#1 looks pretty hurt. Overall Dude#2 looks like he has quite a few wounds. |

From what I remember from back when these things first started during/after the last round of hero tournaments, it's either an echo at each line, or no visuals at all. There's something wonky about the script that allows the viewing of the other room to everyone in the spectator's chamber. Also, it took one or two events for those running them way back when to get their bearings with the script system and the tournament layouts. By the third event in the colliseum, I recall it only taking like an hour to get through almost a dozen fights. If you enjoyed yourself, I'd say give it a few more tries, and I'm sure you'll see those running it get smoother and more comfortable with hurrying everything along. |
