I don't play a warlock. But I suddenly thought it would be a good idea if they got identify. Discuss.

Enchanting something should put runes on it that anyone can decipher with the naked eye. The examine command should just identify everything for everyone. Charges and wands/staves and also what scrolls do should also be easy to tell from the examine command. This would improve everyone's game experience without making any serious change to game balance.

Nobody would get bothered by barbs/mercs etc who need something identified, and barbs/mercs etc wouldn't have to bother anyone to get things identified.

Seriously, this change would just remove one annoying thing about playing without altering game balance. Make it so.

Forced interaction is inherent in the consecrate/enchant split. I doubt forced interaction is thought of as a negative thing by the developer.

Being one who plays a warlock I'd love to have the identify spell. I get asked to identify things all the time regardless. Now even though I want it, I dont see how you can. A warlocks power comes from Yed, he controls the elements. I dont see how the elements can give that power.

Or care to. Yes doesn't concern himself with petty trinkets like us mortals do.

Warlocks should get a spell:

"Elemen"ate Object

A spell that provides a variety of elemental destructive forces and otherwise mimics the
Junk ability

Warlock casts out fire and burns away a goblin's eyeball

Warlock raises his hand and a brown nut is engulfed by the shifting earth.

Warlock raises his hand and thick iron key shimmers into water and collapses under it's own weight.

You know those type of things

Silly powers, but give people a warm fuzzy feeling at the back of their eyes.

Power, suggestion, and warm fuzzy feeling all subject to the discretion of the reader.

Every spell casting class gets identify.. except warlocks. Here'd an idea, take it away from paladins and hellions who have it for no reason.
