It's cloth. He's not going to go for cloth armor in light-armor faiths. This is my educated, had-many-conversations-with-the-dude assumption.

Clarification on terminology:

help armor2 wrote:
* Heavy Armor -- Algorab, Alshain, Dulrik, Sargas
* Light Armor -- Achernar, Ain, Yed, Nashira, Sadr, Thuban, Zavijah
* Clothing -- Aludra, Meissa, Mira, Sadal, Marfik, Dabi

What defines the type of armor? What differentiates heavy from light? This
is dependent on the type of material from which the item is composed.

* Heavy Armor -- adamantite, diamond, gemstone, iron, obsidian, platinum,
steel, stone, tanso steel, cold iron, jade
* Light Armor -- amber, brass, bronze, china, clay, copper, crystal, flesh,
food, glass, gold, ice, ivory, leather, meat, mithril, pearl, plant,
scale, silver, supernatural, wood, dragonscale, yew, ebony, sacred oak
* Clothing -- cloth, energy, feather, flame, fur, ink, paper, parchment,
rubber, silk, suede, vellum, water

The best standardized material for light armor faiths would be dragonscale.
The best standardized material for heavy armor faiths would be adamantite.
The best standardized material for no-armor faiths (clothing) would be energy.

To be honest, it offends my sensibilities that energy constructs are considered to be clothing, but that's where things have stood in the game for pretty much forever.

So based on Taco's fairly undisputed post and Dulrik's input on killing weapons and jewelry, right now we're at:

Energy/Dragonscale/Adamantite : +2/1/1

1. Helmet
2. Arms
3. Gloves
4. Chest
5. Legs *
6. Boots
7. Waist
8. Container (about body)
9. Shield
*10. Barding (this would only be available if legs were not in use, and vice versa)

Does this mean that Meissa wants every existing relic, weapon, and jewelry item in the game currently to get scrapped? Nope. To Meissa, it means they become relics, weapons, and jewelry items with historical religious significance but that are not limited to faith members - aura restrictions will probably apply as appropriate.

Please continue discussion so we can move forward. This isn't set in stone, it's just a marker of where we currently stand in the discussion. :)

The dragonscale thing is an downgrade for the light armor classes, who all have energy except for Yed, IIRC. But the enchants will still be an upgrade, except for those religions who have relatively overpowered armor right now. There's probably a bigger discussion to have here about light armor faiths, since they don't get remove compulsion/lighten load and light armor seems only either only marginally (or not at all) better than energy.

Removing the sacred flag but keeping existing trinkets and weapons seems like a good compromise.

The only way it wouldn't be a downgrade is if the dragonscale armor also gave magical vestments. Else I doubt that there are many priests interested in holding their own magical vestments for the time being.

This seems fine to me.

I'm a fan of the armor being the same weight as the priests. That being said, I think the light armor should be mithril, rather than dragonscale, to remove the necessity of additional scripting on the dragonscale. Dragonscale may be better on paper, but not in practice.

I also think that keeping the weapons in as relics is a great idea. Apparently I was in the minority, but I do/did enjoy the idea that each religion has a thematic weapon as a sacred item.

In exchange for a small percentage less protection in normal operation, dragonscale allows a major upgrade to protection when using magical vestment (for which mithril is not eligible). As all priests have this spell and these sets are religious themed and primarily to be worn by priests, dragonscale is the superior standardization option for these sets.

Mithril breaks though. Unless we can boost the durability of mithril? I also like turning all the non-standard sacred items to religious artifacts and retaining them in the game for use.

I don’t think the expectation should be that they are all made of unbreakable material. If anything, I would rather develop some more cloth and heavy alternatives that are strong Tier 2 but not indestructible.
