RIP, to the Father of RPG - D&D.

A great loss. :(

He may have sold D&D to T$R who utterly sucked, (and then of course he raped them for having D20 images in their books -yay-), but we older players have associated him with the times we begun to play, and one of the names of the basic creators..

Old sweet memories..

That actually made me gasp. Inspirator and gaming visionary. A sad, sad day for gaming.

A friend of mine had been working closely with Gary these past few months, and they were due to meet up again this past week. This is what my friend had to say:
"He was a gamer, and a common man who was anything BUT common, he was a builder of worlds who taught us all that our own imagination is the greatest gift we have.
He was also the shaper of millions of kids imaginations, in a way he wa like Moradin the dwarven god, he breathed life into a simple game, which we immersed ourselves in and in a sense without him it never would have been brought to life.

Despite the world's loss he will never be forgotten, every time someone opens a D&D rulebook, with every roll of a d20 we honor him.

Jaymes K.

I am greatful to Gary for many things, most of all finding how much faith he had in my ideas and work. In his eyes it didn't matter what rules system was used, it was the story and the characters that shaped the world.
"

I find this relates even to our world here, and some of the more profound statements people make from time to time: The game mechanics here are extremely well done, but what keeps people either coming or going is the quality of the role play and dedication to the shaping of personal and larger storylines that makes this game come alive.
