If you retire your character, you should assume the character is not coming back. The help file has long stated:
Quote:
Retired characters are unable to login to the game unless the status is reversed by an administrator.

The following has been stated in the forums, but I have now added it to the help file as further clarification:
Quote:
Retirement should be considered a permanent action. The staff reserves the right to ignore un-retirement requests for any reason.

While I have internal guidelines, they are not stated publicly and what Nashira just related is only part of it. And I may change or scrap those guidelines at any time. Ultimately, it's a judgement call on un-retirement requests and I will reject more than I allow.

If this sounds unfair, all I can say is that no one puts a gun to your head and forces retirement. Feel free to stop playing your character without retiring if you wish. Then you won't put yourself in the position of asking me to decide.

PS. This post is not directed at TheX specifically. When I say 'You', I am referring to the entire player base in general.

I was aware the request may be rejected, as I said I was not aware of the policy.

May I suggest making the retire/delete command useless within 20 minutes of a death. Allow the quit command to work within the 2 tick time period. If you prevent the use of the retirement/delete command to 20 mins or later it will promote a longer cool down period and prevent unneeded retirement/deletions.

It will be a hardcoded way to prevent a good deal of retirement/deletion, maybe save everyone some headaches in the long run.

Again, thanks for the reply.

My 2cents are that if you pull the trigger on a rage retire there should not be a safety net that automates you avoiding consequences for a bad decision. I don't think Dulrik's time is best spent protecting you from yourself. FWIW.

Is FWIW an acronym for "Forgot where I was"?
