A paladin in the MC *drool even more*

Why not? A paladin of Ain who wanted honor and justice over everything? Fepel would have disagreed with him/her from time to time, but would have let him/her in if he wanted to serve his people. As long as she felt she could control him...

Code:
You have been tarnished!
c bolt fepel

*wince*

I love Fepel.

Alignment is too often used as a "gotcha" or a deciding factor on all sorts of things, Cabal membership, tribunal membership, religious affiliation... more so, even, than the actual behavior of the characters in some cases.

Generally speaking, most characters think they are the good guys and those who oppose them are the bad guys. The only difference is in what you're willing to do to achieve your ends.

There are some alignments that may disallow membership, of course. A lightie would not be a candidate for the Adepts, for instance, or a hellion for the Hammer -- alignment DOES matter. But generally speaking, if it's well roleplayed and not to the extreme of being ridiculous, the exception may bring out roleplay opportunities not just for himself or herself, but for everyone in the faith, in my opinion.

Yes, Muktar, but it has been shown over the course of time, that if you give many people in the human race an inch, they will take a mile. And once any type of alignment change would be put in (thank you Dulrik for saying it wouldn't), then people would push for being able to have a full-blown sliding alignment scale.

Well, that is why there has to be limitations. So there would be of course never a lightie hellion nor its converse. But to exclude the possibility unless you decide to give up your char upon changing. Makes at least a couple of the Faith's spheres irrelevent. If you can never try to achieve the goal then why even have it. I don't think there would ever be a single imm that would allow a lightie Hellion or deep-elf. Although, it would be possible for a grey half-elf bard for instance to become a lightie or a darkie. I don' t think there should ever be a complete shift. If you are a race/class that can become grey, but you started off as lightie/darkie you can only shift to the middle.

I also know within the last year there was one char that did change from grey to darkie and it was worth it and well played.

I was about to say something witty on this post, but then I saw people saying they loved Fepel, and I had to go away for a while and vomit up my breakfast, which luckily wasn't very large.

Now, back to the topic at hand.

You can change your alignment whenever you want - the only thing that remains constant is the word in your score, and to be honest, that's not the be all and end all of your RP.

Does anybody aside from me remember Alcon? He ended up being the sword of the morning (a prestigious title at the time in the church of Calrion, the predecessor of Alshain), and he was a grey aura mercenary. The simple fact is that it's you that dictates your RP and the direction your character travels in, not a line in your score or attributes list.

Would that it were so. But the "you" in "it's you that dictates your RP" is a combination of your own personal abilities as a player and the favor of those with whom you wish to interact. A certain grey-aura barbarian (leading a "light" aura tribunal) is denied access to a certain "light" religion, while its counterpart religion is led by a grey aura.
Ultimately, these things are decided on a case-by-case basis, but some rules have become stubbornly hardened over time. Certain cabal/tribunal-alignment combinations will never work.

And "changing" your alignment without justification can get you in about as much trouble as unjustifiably changing your title.

Paladins of Dulrik and Alshain could also be accepted under the pretense that the "truth" is that the Empire is the only real nation, thus making it "right" to conquer the rest of the land.

A hellion in the Fist. *drool*

When I played Achernar, I tried to get Dulrik to let me run a long-term roleplay to allow a hellion to infiltrate the Fist and either take it over completely and/or to allow the hellion to create a "mirror" cabal. It would have been a temporary thing, spanning no more than a few months, but the potential for that would've been just fantastic, I think. That would've been so much fun.

BOOOO for Dulrik's naysaying!

I've also been told Barbarians can't be in the fist either. Which seems to me the Fistie skills would go well with a Barbarians Skillset, especially Wildfighting.
