I noticed this a couple days ago. When combat is over (you know, when it's generally pretty important to know if everyone is prone or not), the "is lying here prone" action message seems to be replaced with the common action message.

This dark tunnel's ceiling and walls are fractured and broken into
many jagged edges and scattered rocks. The floor, surprisingly, is free
of most of the debris forming a narrow, walkable trail. The few stalagmites
that grow out of the rock are also scarred and chipped away, leaving
broken edges rather than the usual smooth surfaces. Stuck between many
of the rocks are large spider webs which are nearly as large as a human
is tall. There are also some patches of moss and mold scattered about the
tunnel floor which angles sharply downward here and drops off into darkness.
