Protip: I can't tell if that wasn't the case here, but if you're going to put poison/plague/weaken/curse on a weapon, make sure you're wielding the weapon first. |

In this case, the weapon was in my inventory. However, I've tried to get this to happen again - a dozen casts and it hasn't done it. Regardless, poison doesn't spread on contact like plague, and it also didn't infect me. Seems like a bug to me. |

It should attempt to land the spell on you if it's in your inventory when you cast it - and then you attempt to wield it. it might also go off in your inventory too (as you say), but the first one is really notable. |
