Are haste and weapon speed enchantments bugged? When I have low-level haste from a consumable, wearing a speed enchanted weapon makes the "weapon speed bonus" of haste disappear off of my affects list. If I have a GM PC cast haste on me, then the weapon speed enhancement stays on my affects list even when I wear the weapon. Is this because of a bug, because my weapon doesn't have enough speed to cancel out GM haste, or does haste and speed enchants stack and is the affects list bugged?

There's a threshold between weapon enchants and speed enhancement bonus from varying levels of haste. This threshold has been, at least in my experience, changed without announcement several times over the last few weeks. This kind of makes it difficult to predict your own character's functionality in combat, and it really makes no sense why they should cancel out, but there you have it.

I viewed the +speed and haste the same way +strength and giant strength work in terms of stacking; highest counts?

I don't know if there's a "peak speed" attribute, though, when it comes to interplay with enchantment and competence bonuses, so to speak, from something like specialize or mood aggressive.

FOUND THE BUG

Weapon speed enchantments do not stack if the speed enchantments on your weapon are greater than to equal to the amount of speed granted by your haste spell.

However, speed enhancements and the speed enhancement bonus from haste DO stack if your weapon speed enhancements are lower than the speed enhancement you get from haste. This produces what definitely seems like buggy behavior, in that depending on the level of haste you receive, weapons with less speed enhancements will actually attack faster. This may even have contributed to the feeling that the haste spell has been ninja-changing for a while, even if the code has been the same for quite a while.

As an example (And I'll avoid using the actual numbers here out of respect for big D) let's say that GM haste grants me the equivalent of 10 speed enchantments. If I enchant one greatsword to +9 speed, and another greatsword to +10 speed, then when I'm using the greatsword with +10 speed as well as my +10 haste, then I only gain the effect of one: I'll literally attack just as fast as if I had an unenchanted greatsword with haste. However, if I use my greatsword with +9 speed and use my +10 haste, then I attack just as fast as if I had a haste spell that granted me +19 speed.

An abbreviated log of my testing is as follows. I took a charmed barb NPC, had him fury (Just for consistency), and then tested him with 3 differently enchanted cutlasses. One cutlass was unenchanted, one cutlass had just enough enchants to "match" my GM haste, and another cutlass had exactly one enchantment -less- than the cutlass which had enough enchantments to "match" GM haste. When I hasted him and he used the unenchanted cutlass and the cutlass with enough enchantments to "match" GM haste, he got the same amount of attacks. However, when I hasted him and he used the cutlass with one LESS enchantment than what my GM haste gave him, he got an extra attack.

For brevity in this post, I've only quoted the part where he uses the more enchanted cutlass vs. the less enchanted cutlass. Just for clarity, the glowing cutlass has exactly one more speed enhancement than the non-glowing one.

Actually, it's not a feeling that these things have been changed without announcement a few times over the last few weeks.

One day, I was using my +6 spd enchant siege xbow and getting five attacks a round with a speed enhancement bonus on my affects list while under GM haste.

The next day, same weapon and same GM haste, and I'm not showing speed enhancement effect and only hitting 4 attacks 90% of the time.

The next day, I show speed enhancement bonus with same weapon and same haste, but I'm only hitting four attacks every round.

The next day, showing speed enhancement bonus and hitting five attacks every round again.

Couple days after, I'm not showing speed enhancement bonus from same weapon and haste again, and back to 4 attacks 90% of the time.

I could probably dig through my logs to find the proof but I'm not really too interested in doing that. It would be tedious beyond what I care to endure. I'll just leave it at there is not a "sensation of it being changed," it actually is in flux more often than allows for consistent knowledge of what your character can do in combat.

There have not been any code updates the last couple of weeks. To my knowledge, I have not touched speed at all, even with the last big update.

Sounds like there may be a bug here.

Well dude, it's been flip-flopping back and forth pretty frequently. Unless there's some kind of range of speed enhancements from lvl 50 haste, then it's not interacting properly with the speed enchantment. My chronology of the variance in speed + haste is accurate. It changed literally every day for a week, all while using the same weapon and having the same GM sorc cast haste on my character.

It didn't change for me using non-ranged weapons in that time - maybe there was another variable at play. I wonder if wind impacts ranged weaponspeed.

I saw the effect on my non-ranged weapon as well. Anything less than GM haste with the +5 spd enchants I had on my non-ranged weapon wasn't registering a speed enhancement effect from haste either.

I might be a bit off on my timing. Time kind of blurs for me when I'm writing a book, it might have been further back. It was the week leading up to the last bonanza.

Are you sure that you didn't lose/re-enchant a crossbow in the middle of that somewhere and experience a slight variation in the amount of speed enchantments on it? Due the current bug, at the moment all it takes it one enchantment "too many" to make haste have no affect.
