Good news! I just got a job at the call center my girlfriend works at part time. Still working at my [REDACTED] grocery store. But I might throw all that away because later today, I have an interview at our local casino for an IT position.
Making moves!

I spend my days asking the "simple" question, "Which is better, 1 or 2?"

That and convincing people that there are fates MUCH worse than a mild cataract.

Rocked my interview on Monday and got a call back today.
Starting my IT job in about 2 weeks. Pumped.

Supervisor at the Value Drug Mart distribution center, a pharmaceutical warehouse.

I am in charge of 17 full/part-time employees on our largest shift, report directly to the foreman, and work in the same building as our CEO. It took me 1 year to rise from a picker to supervisor status. I have been involved in the hiring of several employees, and the dismissal of just as many. I have been responsible for re-writes of multiple standard operating procedures, am trained and licensed to operate sit-down, deep-reach, and stand-up order picker forklifts. I am one of 4 people in our company to receive full TDG certification, even though we only carry a single item requiring it (UN1219 Isopropanol 99% P.S.P 4x4L). I am capable of picking orders on a Kardex Remstar carousel up to my personal best of 620 lines/hr (They featured us on their website, the balding guy is the supervisor I since replaced http://www.kardexremstar.com/us/storage ... lment.html .As well, the area they show as "bulk storage" is now a second set of carousels).

I highly enjoy the job and greatly value the developed skills a management role has thrust upon me!

EDIT: 3/26/2015 19:45 - 20:00...... I achieved 629/hr, a personal best!

Man, get on with a firm who will pay your licensure fees for you! The geotech/engineering firm I work for will pay for at least 2 license/association fees per year, sometimes more. They're currently paying for my IDP toward licensure, and they're paying for me to get my LEED accreditation. The previous engineering firm I worked for offered the same benefit.
Working with GIS would be fun- I love maps + mapping. Wish I'd gotten more GIS experience in grad school.
