A poem about my heroes and how to play SK

I put on my hockey mask and coveralls
I open the door and go outside
I look down the street
I see a kid in a parka
I hate him
I throw my hatchet and it sticks in his forehead
I grin behind the mask
I am in my element

The differing lengths of lines does create some tension. The words 'hatchet' and 'element' create some cadence with the similar vowels used. Why is the kid wearing a parka? Otherwise I feel I understand this poem.

Because no one likes a kid wearing a parka.
