Why are the mages in Talaxcala able to petrifty?! LOL

The Garnet Lounge
You wander amongst the groups of magical practitioners and begin to
understand more about the nature and purpose of Tlaxcala. The visitors seem
to consist mostly of sorcerors, but there are priests, warlocks, shamans,
and even necromancers mixed in. They speak softly and calmly to each other,
and you can see that the people who have been coming here the longest have
made friends with people who, outside of Tlaxcala Colony, are their enemies.
Naturally, some secrets are kept, but there is respect in the air. You
overhear a discussion on the practice of raising the dead between the three
people nearest you. One is a shaman, one is a necromancer and one is a
priest. They wander off toward the center of the cavernous room, leaving
you even more curious.

I always make sure I kill them in three rounds or less. If I can't, then I'm going to get a pet or a charm to help speed things up
