You walk northwest.

Plains
A vast expanse of grassland spreads out as far as the eye can
frrpp see. Lavish waves of light-green grass, about thigh high on a
ff*rr human, sway to and fro at the wind's command, scratching together
fpppp in a soothing sort of whisper. Inflorescences of flora offer
bursts of color to a sea otherwise dominated by green. Insects
sprinkle the air as they jump from flower to flower in a tireless effort.
Small
paths cut through the long grasses, evidence of habitual animal use.
A marble colonnade rises from the plain on the stream bank at the edge of
the forest.
A first quarter moon hangs in the sky. It's partly cloudy,
cool, and windy.
Obvious exits: n e s w nw ne sw se steps
A set of wide marble steps leads between two columns.
A Taslamaran courser walks in from southeast.
A snake wanders in from the northeast.
Werstiskis walks in from southeast.

A marble colonnade
Completely open to the elements save for the columns lining the
perimeter, this vast and spartan space can hardly be called interior. From
within, it becomes apparent that the place is built in a series of perfect
angles. Each column reaches upward, supporting the massive marble roof, upon
which is a great mosaic depicting a perfectly balanced scale.
It's snowing lightly, freezing, and very, very windy.
Obvious exits: n steps
A set of wide marble steps leads between two columns.
A strong male human is here, resting on one knee.
Werstiskis arrives from between the columns.
A Taslamaran courser arrives from between the columns.

[HP:100%] [ME: 98%] [PE: 84%]

It's snowing lightly, freezing, and very, very windy.
The wind blows from the west at 43 knots.

[HP:100%] [ME: 98%] [PE: 84%]

Karsh's pelt twitches, clearing the light dusting of snow from it.

[HP:100%] [ME: 98%] [PE: 84%]

You sit down and rest your tired bones.

[HP:100%] [ME: 98%] [PE: 84%]

You say 'Please, be easy.'

[HP:100%] [ME: 98%] [PE: 84%]

You are hungry.

[HP:100%] [ME: 98%] [PE:100%]

You stop resting, and sit up.

[HP:100%] [ME: 98%] [PE:100%]

Karsh lowers his head, the
metallic gleam of his feathers seeming amplified by
a subtle
glow that infuses him. The glow is strongest in the lefthand talon,
which he holds over a spot on the ground in front of him.

[HP:100%] [ME: 98%] [PE:100%]
You say 'Lord Ain, I beg You provide for the Just. Through Your succor are we
nourished in spirit, mind, and body.'

[HP:100%] [ME: 98%] [PE:100%]
You start to pray.

[HP:100%] [ME: 98%] [PE:100%]

Werstiskis brushes a bit of leaves from his form before entering.

[HP:100%] [ME: 98%] [PE:100%]

Werstiskis gets a small
cask, made from bark from some white robes embroidered
with a
scale.

[HP:100%] [ME: 98%] [PE:100%]

Werstiskis drinks water from a small
cask, made from bark.

[HP:100%] [ME: 98%] [PE:100%]

Werstiskis puts a small
cask, made from bark in some white robes embroidered
with a

You utter the words, 'qcandusahz yaae'.
A ball of white rice suddenly appears.

You get a ball of white rice.

[HP:100%] [ME: 93%] [PE:100%]
You start to pray.

[HP:100%] [ME: 93%] [PE:100%]

Werstiskis says 'Lord Ain, I ask you to help restore my health through
nourishment.'

[HP:100%] [ME: 93%] [PE:100%]

Werstiskis starts to pray.

[HP:100%] [ME: 93%] [PE:100%]

A ball of white rice suddenly appears.

Werstiskis utters the words, 'create food'.
A ball of white rice suddenly appears.

Werstiskis gets a ball of white rice.

[HP:100%] [ME: 84%] [PE:100%]

You get
a ball of white rice.

[HP:100%] [ME: 84%] [PE:100%]

You see no rice here.

[HP:100%] [ME: 84%] [PE:100%]

bless rice
With a flash of golden light, a ball of white rice flattens and hardens into a
new form, revealing a
circular cake.

[HP:100%] [ME: 84%] [PE:100%]

You give
a perfect carmelized rice cake to Werstiskis.

[HP:100%] [ME: 84%] [PE:100%]

You eat
a ball of white rice.
You are no longer hungry.

[HP:100%] [ME: 84%] [PE:100%]

You eat
a ball of white rice.
You are full.

[HP:100%] [ME: 84%] [PE:100%]

You rest your tired bones.

[HP:100%] [ME: 84%] [PE:100%]

Werstiskis thanks you heartily.

[HP:100%] [ME: 84%] [PE:100%]

Werstiskis looks at you.

[

Werstiskis puts
a perfect carmelized rice cake in an iridescent blue cloak.

[
HP:100%] [ME: 93%] [PE:100%]

Werstiskis drops
a ball of white rice.

[HP:100%] [ME: 93%] [PE:100%]

Werstiskis gets
a ball of white rice.

[HP:100%] [ME: 93%] [PE:100%]

With a flash of golden light, a ball of white rice flattens and hardens into a
new form, revealing a
circular cake.

[HP:100%] [ME: 93%] [PE:100%]

Werstiskis sits down and rests.

[HP:100%] [ME: 98%] [PE:100%]

Werstiskis nods sternly.

[HP:100%] [ME: 98%] [PE:100%]

You give
a silver-bound tome imprinted with a drop of blood to Werstiskis.

[HP:100%] [ME: 98%] [PE:100%]

Werstiskis nods.

[HP:100%] [ME: 98%] [PE:100%]

You say to Werstiskis 'If you would not mind, at the least skim the headings
and basic concepts presented by Regiza, and give me your thoughts.'

[HP:100%] [ME: 98%] [PE:100%]

Werstiskis says to you 'I shall dive into its wisdom soon.'

[HP:100%] [ME: 98%] [PE:100%]

You say to Werstiskis 'They are germaine to our conversation.'

[HP:100%] [ME: 98%] [PE:100%]

Werstiskis nods.

[HP:100%] [ME: 98%] [PE:100%]

Werstiskis opens
a silver-bound tome imprinted with a drop of blood.

[HP:100%] [ME: 98%] [PE:100%]

The day has begun.

[HP:100%] [ME: 98%] [PE:100%]

Werstiskis "hms" once to himself as he is reading.

[HP:100%] [ME: 98%] [PE:100%]

Werstiskis nods twice.

[HP:100%] [ME: 98%] [PE:100%]

Karsh lifts his
wings a few inches off his back, settling them and resettling
them a few times for comfort. The
gold-trimmed, white-bleached feathers
describing a
scale on his left wing, and a gavel on his right glitter in the
light cast by his equipment.

[HP:100%] [ME: 98%] [PE:100%]

Werstiskis says to Werstiskis 'Hesitation does kill.'

[HP:100%] [ME: 98%] [PE:100%]

Karsh waits patiently, his tail tucking up around his haunches and along his
body.

[HP:100%] [ME: 98%] [PE:100%]

Werstiskis strokes his chin thoughtfully.

[HP:100%] [ME: 98%] [PE:100%]

Werstiskis closes
a silver-bound tome imprinted with a drop of blood.

[HP:100%] [ME: 98%] [PE:100%]

Werstiskis looks up after closing the tome.

[HP:100%] [ME: 98%] [PE:100%]

You say to Werstiskis 'That is as close to a treatise on the Lord's following
as I have found, though it is highly specific in its focus.'

[HP:100%] [ME: 98%] [PE:100%]

Werstiskis says to you 'That it is, sir.'

[HP:100%] [ME: 98%] [PE:100%]

You ask to Werstiskis 'What are your thoughts on the general concepts
presented?'

[HP:100%] [ME: 98%] [PE:100%]

You say 'As you have understood them at a glance, at any rate.'

[HP:100%] [ME: 98%] [PE:100%]

Werstiskis says to you 'Many of the points herein reflect notions I had within
myself, yet some are more...or rather, less principled, than I had imagined.'

[HP:100%] [ME: 98%] [PE:100%]

Werstiskis says to you 'Particularly, the chapter of Mercy and Victory.'

[HP:100%] [ME: 98%] [PE:100%]

Werstiskis opens
a silver-bound tome imprinted with a drop of blood.

[HP:100%] [ME: 98%] [PE:100%]

You say to Werstiskis 'Hence my efforts to reconcile them with my own ideals,
and my lack of success in the endeavor. But please, continue.'

[HP:100%] [ME: 98%] [PE:100%]

Werstiskis says 'Cut him down utterly. Don't allow him a breath....so on.'

[HP:100%] [ME: 98%] [PE:100%]

You are thirsty.

[HP:100%] [ME: 98%] [PE:100%]

Werstiskis says to you 'In this context, I would say the author Regiza claims
that we merely do not give an inch while combating the Enemy.'

[HP:100%] [ME: 98%] [PE:100%]

Werstiskis says to you 'THere is no mention of being rash or ruthless in our
endeavours.'

[HP:100%] [ME: 98%] [PE:100%]

It is noon.

[HP:100%] [ME: 98%] [PE:100%]

Werstiskis says 'Yet it does also speak of defeating an enemy utterly, in
spirit, in will to continue to fight, in life.'

[HP:100%] [ME: 98%] [PE:100%]

You are thirsty.

Werstiskis says to you 'It makes one wonder what lengths one must be willing to
go to in order to destroy their enemies.'

[HP:100%] [ME: 98%] [PE:100%]

Werstiskis says to you 'I believe the Primary Edict still eludes me.sayto kar I
believe the Primary Edict still eludes me.'

[HP:100%] [ME: 98%] [PE:100%]

sayto werstis And yet, can you find fault in the logic presented?
You ask to Werstiskis 'And yet, can you find fault in the logic presented?'

[HP:100%] [ME: 98%] [PE:100%]

Werstiskis says to you 'Finding fault would imply there is one. I do not seek
necessarily to find fault, but rather to supplement my own understanding with
that contained herein.'

[HP:100%] [ME: 98%] [PE:100%]

Werstiskis says to you 'I do agree with Regiza that we must completely and
utterly destroy the Darkness, and any who threaten the safety of those in our
charge.'

[HP:100%] [ME: 98%] [PE:100%]

You say to Werstiskis 'If there is fault, it is Just to say so and to
deconstruct the parts of the philosophy that are based upon the faulty logic.
I, myself, have not found fault, but I invite you to illuminate any that you
may see.'

[HP:100%] [ME: 98%] [PE:100%]

Werstiskis says to you 'I am still a bit perplexed by the Primary Edict.'

[HP:100%] [ME: 98%] [PE:100%]

Werstiskis asks to you 'Could you explain that a bit more to me, as you
understand it?'

[HP:100%] [ME: 98%] [PE:100%]

Karsh [REDACTED] his head to the side a bit, a pensive, bird-like gesture.

[HP:100%] [ME: 98%] [PE:100%]

You say to Werstiskis 'It is, to my understanding, an understanding and
subjugation to the idea of war practiced with full, rational and logical
intent, and with a fully reasoned understanding of the purpose and intent of
war itself.'

[HP:100%] [ME: 98%] [PE:100%]

Werstiskis nods slowly, taking in the meaning of the words expressed.

[HP:100%] [ME: 98%] [PE:100%]

You say to Werstiskis 'As I said, highly focused, but it would appear that one
who is adoptive of the Edict is at the end of all, a warrior of Light before
all else.'

[HP:100%] [ME: 98%] [PE:100%]

You say to Werstiskis 'The very weapon of the Light, who exists only for the
purpose of slaying the darkness.'

[HP:100%] [ME: 98%] [PE:100%]

You say to Werstiskis 'Such a being would, if successful, remove their own
purpose for being.'

[HP:100%] [ME: 98%] [PE:100%]

Werstiskis says to you 'If that one were indeed able to destroy the Darkness
utterly.'

[HP:100%] [ME: 98%] [PE:100%]

You say 'And, I think...'

[HP:100%] [ME: 98%] [PE:100%]
Karsh pauses, head cocking in the other direction.

[HP:100%] [ME: 98%] [PE:100%]

You say 'Intends to do so.'

[HP:100%] [ME: 98%] [PE:100%]

Werstiskis says to you 'I can see no greater cause for, as you say, removing
one's purpose, if not for having completed the ultimate mission.'

[HP:100%] [ME: 98%] [PE:100%]

You say to Werstiskis 'Indeed, it seems a noble goal. Here is where I falter in
my reconciliation. For myself, I must stand for principles that would
interfere with my dedication to war waged to this ruthless extent of
rationality.'

[HP:100%] [ME: 98%] [PE:100%]

You say to Werstiskis 'It is not wrong--for I can find no fault in the logic
upon which it is based--but it requires a heart that can adopt such methods
and philosophy wholly, which mine cannot.'

[HP:100%] [ME: 98%] [PE:100%]

Werstiskis nods sternly.

[HP:100%] [ME: 98%] [PE:100%]

The night has begun.

[HP:100%] [ME: 98%] [PE:100%]

Werstiskis says to you 'I share many of your ideals, sir, yet I am also willing
to decimate the enemy, to ensure root does not take hold.'

[HP:100%] [ME: 98%] [PE:100%]

You say to Werstiskis 'That was my thinking, and why I wanted your impressions
of the text.'

[HP:100%] [ME: 98%] [PE:100%]

You say to Werstiskis 'There are many avenues by which Justice may be pursued,
and one of those oft-overlooked as common is enforcement.'

[HP:100%] [ME: 98%] [PE:100%]

Goan tells you 'Hullo.'

[HP:100%] [ME: 98%] [PE:100%]

Goan tells you 'Goan was wondering, what's bigger than a backpack?'

[HP:100%] [ME: 98%] [PE:100%]

You say to Werstiskis 'Many people take it for granted, or else fail to analyze
the nature of enforcement as a concept.'

[HP:100%] [ME: 98%] [PE:100%]

Werstiskis asks to you 'I agree wholeheartedly with the implications of the
virtues herein. One must never hesitate to do what one must in service to the
Light. You had mentioned those of scruple must be...separated?'

Werstiskis says to you 'I feel a different approach to be more suitable, sir.'

[HP:100%] [ME: 98%] [PE:100%]

Werstiskis says to you 'As the Scale balances itself, so too must virtues from
each of us.'

[HP:100%] [ME: 98%] [PE:100%]

You say to Werstiskis 'Not separated, per se. It is, instead...'
[HP:100%] [ME: 98%] [PE:100%]
Karsh trails off, eyeridges drawing down in something akin to a scowl.
[HP:100%] [ME: 98%] [PE:100%]
You say to Werstiskis 'I mean no offense when I say, that it is in the eyes
of the Lord that those of scruples fail to meet a certain standard of internal
order. It is not a slight, it is merely the nature of the heart.'
[HP:100%] [ME: 98%] [PE:100%]

You say to Werstiskis 'Obviously the Lord does not turn all such aside.'
[HP:100%] [ME: 98%] [PE:100%]

You say to Werstiskis 'That we wear the same symbol is proof of that.'

[HP:100%] [ME: 98%] [PE:100%]

Werstiskis says to you 'As I am willing to...go the extra distance, so too must
you be able to withhold and thus temper my resolve, where times those of
scruple may push those of principle toward necessary action.'
[HP:100%] [ME: 98%] [PE:100%]

You say to Werstiskis 'But I think there is a different purpose for us in the
following.'

[HP:100%] [ME: 98%] [PE:100%]

Werstiskis says to you 'A delicate balance, I would say.'

[HP:100%] [ME: 98%] [PE:100%]

You say to Werstiskis 'Perhaps so. I had a different thought, for there are not
always those of scruples or principle to serve as balance to the other. I
think, instead, that the intent of the Lord's blessing is meant to be applied
differently.'

[HP:100%] [ME: 98%] [PE:100%]

You say to Werstiskis 'Still a balancing act, but one in which both halves have
autonomy.'

[HP:100%] [ME: 98%] [PE:100%]

Werstiskis asks to you 'Would you care to elaborate more upon this, sir?'

[HP:100%] [ME: 98%] [PE:100%]
You say to Werstiskis 'It was with the Edict in mind that I formed the idea I
spoke to you of the other month.'

[HP:100%] [ME: 98%] [PE:100%]

[HP:100%] [ME: 98%] [PE:100%]

Werstiskis nods at you.

[HP:100%] [ME: 98%] [PE:100%]

You say to Werstiskis 'The Edict is undeniably logical and good in its aims, if
a bit more ruthless in its application than I myself or others of principle
might be able to manage. But it is a weapon of righteousness, and ought not to
be dismissed out of hand for that reason.'

[HP:100%] [ME: 98%] [PE:100%]

You say to Werstiskis 'And so we return to enforcement of Justice versus the
safeguarding of its concepts.'

[HP:100%] [ME: 98%] [PE:100%]

Werstiskis nods.

[HP:100%] [ME: 98%] [PE:100%]

You say to Werstiskis 'It would seem to me that those of principle have an
obligation to safeguard the concepts that uphold justice and its
proliferation. It would also seem to me that those of scruples might be better
equiped morally to do what is necessary when those concepts are violated.'

[HP:100%] [ME: 98%] [PE:100%]

Werstiskis says to you 'I agree.'

[HP:100%] [ME: 98%] [PE:100%]

Werstiskis says to you 'Keepers of the code, enforcers of the Light, in a
manner of speaking.'

[HP:100%] [ME: 98%] [PE:100%]

You say to Werstiskis 'I would dearly hope that you would question my reasoning
if you find fault with it, but I will take you at your word that your
agreement is wholehearted until you say otherwise.'

[HP:100%] [ME: 98%] [PE:100%]

You say to Werstiskis 'That is a more succinct way to phrase it perhaps, yes.'

[HP:100%] [ME: 98%] [PE:100%]

Werstiskis says to you 'Agreement with this text, aye. I am certain there will
be times I find fault with your reasoning, but I shall always discuss it in a
logical and professional manner, sir.'

full priesthood in the Lord's flock.'

[HP:100%] [ME: 98%] [PE:100%]

Werstiskis says to you 'You have my attention, sir.'

[HP:100%] [ME: 98%] [PE:100%]

The day has begun.

[HP:100%] [ME: 98%] [PE:100%]

You say to Werstiskis 'Study the Edict, and think closely on what we have
discussed. Find any and all faults of reasoning and logic in the Edict that
you are able. Further, find any faults in the reasoning we have discussed here
today. Once done, we will come and speak in the sight of the Lord again, and
when we do, we will debate the creation of a second order within the Scale's
following: one dedicated to, if not the Edict exactly, then the concepts that
support it.'

[HP:100%] [ME: 98%] [PE:100%]

Werstiskis strokes his chin thoughtfully.

You say to Werstiskis 'I had previously promised to share any texts related to

[HP:100%] [ME: 98%] [PE:100%]

Werstiskis nods at you.

[HP:100%] [ME: 98%] [PE:100%]

You say to Werstiskis 'I, too, must end my tour of duty for a time.'
