I agree that penalties should be more frequent. I have always been under the understanding that the slay command is generally not for punitive measure, unless its a part of IC conduct with an Immortal. On the other hand, the penalize command doesn't really deter those people who are the pk elite, because they generally wont have any difficulty regaining any amount of lost experience. I've used both routes. I don't advertise when I punish people.

Often I've had conversations with folks in instances that I would penalize someone and found that just talking to them made them more understanding. Where do we draw the line? I'm certain I've wanted to punish people for breaches of alignment in the past, but found some justification.

In some instances, characters do things which could be handled ICly by tarnish, blemish, etc. Other times they're not so easily handled. Is it fair to apply both a penalty and blemish for the same crime? Should that be the norm, that you are penalized both OOCly and ICly? I'm fine with that, but it seems almost like double jeopardy to me.

Outright deletions work just fine by my book. Reina's old method. Or curse back 15 levels. Don't be stingy.

And I just wanted to show you all how ooc this game really is with Erevan because I know of his visceral response. And yes, he's majorly easy to goad, but that's SK. It's more ooc than IC.

Nail everyone to a cross.

Reina wasn't as big a dick as you're making him out to be, Grakus.

Most of the people he penalized and ruined their [REDACTED] were just [REDACTED] dumbasses and deserved it.

We don't need some inquisition style penalizing from imms. Penalties should only be used in cases of actual rule-breaking where the players are actually guilty of cheating.

This kind of mass penalty crusade is just going to create a negative image for the immstaff.

Get off of my nuts you fool. You have nothing, so don't even bother mentioning me.

And you should know, noobcake? You were barely playing when he was still an immortal.

But you're right, most of the time people deserved it.

You aren't as seasoned as some of us around here, so please, stop.

Grakus, when dealing with a two-faced kid like you, I have the choice to back down and simply ignore you, thus risking your opinion actually effecting someone, or I can come down full force and reveal your true colors.
It is not something I enjoy doing, but I hope that one day you will actually grow up and stop pretending to be something you're not, just because you're behind a computer screen, as I did long ago.

As for SK being more OOC than IC, here's my take.
There's an equasion. On the right side you have a system close to a typical mmorpg computer game, balance of classes, balance of cabals, balance of alignments, and on the left side you have role playing, concept, and feeling.

If you want to add more to the right side, you have to take from the left, and vice versa. The more you try to put the game to rules, balance and 5 foot squares, the more the players will lose their interest to RP and care more to minmax their characters and win.

On the other hand, sacrificing some system and balance, players will start worrying more about their character. That, and introducing some more inside rp between imm and players, and i assure you ooc will start to fade to the point where it will be minimized.

I disagree entirely. But then again, who cares what I think right?

Obviously I'm some two-faced demon who somehow simultaneously both is 'hated by everyone' and 'is in everyone's corner' at the same time. Make up your minds folks.

Or don't. I don't care.

Just take your [REDACTED] ooc socialness and "i have to win" syndrome out of the game I play please.

Yeah, because obviously your opinion is the only one that matters and whatever anybody else plays the game for is irrelevant.

Pretty much. While we're on the topic, why do you play?

Here is my opinion on RP req's. Low lvl chars (up to not includiing journeyman) should just get a warning and if keep doing it (ie like 2 more times) though, start handing out the curses. journeyman to master should get talked to once about it and if it happens again. Bam . .. curse them, then if it still continues, hell them. Those who are champion and grand master have no excuse for breaking alignment, breaking rp and what not. Curse them and tell them why they are being cursed. If they do it again, hell them. If they start bitching about it delete them. By the time they are at that lvl they have put in enough hrs to know what rp is acceptable and what is not. Low and mid lvl chars there isn't enough hrs yet for newbies to always truly grasp what is going on and as Achernar said, that sometimes talking to them will correct the problem.
