Does a spear of faith from a grey aura'd priest do less damage than those of light/dark auras or is it the same?

From my understanding of selfish priest spells, since the spells hit anyone and everyone, the damage is halved.

I'm not sure about the damage, but their spells don't hit anyone and everyone, just dark and light auras.

The short answer is, once you can cast harm you should never cast spear of faith as a graybie ever again. Gray harm is actually better than lightie/darkie since protection can't be used to soak up some of its damage.

That's actually not the answer to my question. :P

And to top it off it's a somewhat faulty statement, especially when you consider the fact that SoF > harm as far as leveling is concerned. The part about greybie harm doing more damage is true though.

Comming frrom a grey aura priest... Yes you can cast Spear of Faith on lighties and darkies (but not greybies).

The downside to this added flexibility is that, yes, the damage is halved.

I would love to know I was wrong, but I believe this was mentioned by Dulrik long ago in a different thread.

*cough*

Harm is probably better than gray SoF once you can cast it, even while leveling, because of the mana-to-damage ratio. Around expert or mentor you shouldn't really be doing melee damage anyway.
