[Game help] rules (1 of 2)
The rules of the game are designed to ensure that Shattered Kingdoms remains a
fun and enjoyable place in which to spend time. Rules are different from laws
in that the rules are enforced by immortals, while the laws are enforced by
mortals within the realms themselves. If you break one of the laws of a
particular kingdom, you may be wanted in that kingdom, but if you break one of
the rules, the penalties are much more severe, ranging from equipment loss or
experience penalties to demotion or even deletion.
1. THE GOLDEN RULE -- Everyone knows this one. "Do unto others as you
would have them do unto you." It works a little differently on SK though.
What it means is that you should attempt to respect the fact that other
players are here to enjoy the game as well and gear your roleplay with other
players to accomodate that. Roleplay before killing. Using out of character
communication can ensure everyone involved is on the same page beforehand.
And especially when dealing with newbies, take time to make sure they under-
stand what is going on before treating them harshly, even if they would seem
to deserve it. Without newbies the game eventually dies.
2. NO MULTIPLAYING -- You are allowed to play only one character at any
given time. Client programs, such as Zmud and tintin, are not to be used to
control more than one character at a time. Any player is allowed to have
multiple characters, but no transfers of equipment, money, or information
between them are allowed. Violations will result in deletion for all
involved characters. Assisting another person in multi-playing, by holding
equipment or money, or even just looking the other way will also be punished.
3. NO SEXUAL HARASSMENT -- Scoff if you wish, but the players here are
real people, and an unsolicited emote or social can be almost as bad as the
real thing. This applies to both in- and out-of-character situations.
Harrassment of any sort will not be tolerated. If there is any doubt, keep
your hands (or claws) to yourself, and if you are told (either in- or out-of
character) to leave someone (or their character) alone, you need to do so
immediately. Violations will result in deletion or siteban.
4. PLAYER STEALING/KILLING -- Stealing from and killing other characters
is acceptable as long as any such attempts are made within the restrictions
of your character's alignment. Principled and aberrant characters will not
kill without a compelling reason born from roleplay or in self-defense.
There are additional rules. Be sure to read rules2!
